Transfer Station Working Group

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Transfer Station Working Group is to assess and review the current operations of the Transfer Station, to determine what is needed immediately to keep the Transfer Station in compliance, to look at the changes and mandates that may be needed in the future and to assess the feasibility of an alternative site or operators.

The mandate of the Transfer Station Working Group is as follows:

Review and assess current operations of the Transfer Station to determine immediate term requirements, compliance issues and resources needed;

Develop a plan including education and financial implications for the long-term in light of known or mandated changes in regulation, recycling trends and minimization of residual solid waste;

Consider all potential and viable alternative options for meeting recycling and waste disposal goals for our community;

Consider operational options such as pay per throw or other approaches;

Present plan and recommendations to Select Board

Assist in the implementation of agreed plan over time.
