June 19, 2019 - Cable/Hi-Speed Internet Update

Pole License Applications to the owner, National Grid, for permission to hang fiber optic cable on all power poles was originally submitted by Charter/Spectrum last fall and updated March 2019.  Applications are currently under review by National Grid.

Calls among the parties are held regularly and the Commonwealth (via the Massachusetts Broadband Institute, chaired by the Lt. Governor) convenes a quarterly status call.  National Grid is currently reviewing 10,000 pole license applications across the state.

We were informed that National Grid expects to be completed with the process (including any repair, replacement or clearing of poles) by November, 2019.

At that point, construction by Charter/Spectrum will commence.  Per New Marlborough's franchise agreement with Charter/Spectrum, construction must be completed within twelve months of that time.  As homes are subscribed and wired, service will be turned on.
